James, along with his wife Jeanie, operates all aspects of the ELLA'S Food and Drink (Westerly) and The Perfect Caper (Punta Gorda) restaurants. Overseeing the operations and services of the restaurants, James is a taskmaster and provides the high level of training and support for his staff that discerning customers have come to expect and enjoy from both the Rolands' restaurants.
In addition to service, James trains staff in proper wine service, cocktail creation, menu writing and customer relations. From the bus staff to the bar staff, all team members are trained to be a part of the hospitality experience.
James also manages public relations and marketing for the restaurant. With the social media onslaught, Mr. Roland keeps the restaurant up-to-date with viral media as well as instant messaging and e-marketing. Ella's has quickly adapted to reach customers where they are and to provide them with the instant marketing they crave.
Previous experiences included World-wide Director of Special Events and Hospitality with IMPAC consulting. The primary focus of this position was destination management, creation and execution of high-end hospitality and special events for large corporate clients and political organizations.
A 1987 graduate of the University of California Irvine, James is married to Jeanie Roland and they reside in Westerly, RI and Punta Gorda, FL.
